January 2018 Paper Pumpkin #redboxchallenge

Image
Paper Pumpkin posted a #redboxchallenge on their Facebook page for January 2018.  The challenge was to create a "wow" project using a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  I chose to work with the February 2017 kit which featured some background stamps and Flirty Flamingo and Island Indigo inks.  My colors for this project was Whisper White, Basic Black, Flirty Flamingo, and Gold.  I created three unique cards and lots of little embellishments then die cut some cute little boxes as well.  Finally, I experimented with "treat bag toppers" and really liked how that turned out.   This was a lot of fun, I really enjoy Paper Pumpkin! Stampin' Up! Hold on to Hope and Cross of Hope Framelits

Image
I've been playing around with the Stampin' Up! Hold on to Hope bundle today.  Its super cute.  For the pink card, I tried the "stamping off" technique to add interest to the background.  Basically its just random second and third generation stamping to create an interesting background.  I think it worked well with the cross.  For the base layer, I used Flirty Flamingo.  I colorwashed that onto white cardstock.  I stamped the cross and sentiment in Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink by Ranger.  All the flowers were made using the Blossom Builder Paper Punch (retired) (I plan on making me up a flower stash this month).  The centers are black gems I had picked up locally at Michael's. I used Daffodil Delight on the yellow card.  I colorwashed the ink  onto white cardstock and let that dry.  I cut the panel to size and then used a border die to get the decorative edge.  I stamped the flourish twice using Daffo...

Pink & Navy Floral "Junk" Journal

Image
YouTube video flip through:  https://youtu.be/XwRFBwupsVg I learned how to make these chipboard journals from youtube, and they are called "junk journals".  I didn't really use junk in this one, so maybe I'll just call it a journal.  This one is for my sister, they generally take 3 to4 days to complete. It still needs a few more finishing touches I think, the cover is a little plain.  I need to iron the wide, white grosgrain ribbon.  And since I have a ton of beads and charms, I'm going to make a book charm for it also. I used a paper pad called, "Blue Blooms" (December 2017), so its still available right now and its so cute.  I really like this paper pad.  On the cover I used two papers that I had purchased separately.  The double sided floral/gingham is by My Mind's Eye and I believe it is no longer available.  I have had this for a few years, originally purchased at Hobby Lobby on clearance and the other...

God is Love

Its been two weeks since I made a card!  Had some other things going on...  I've got to start getting my house in order (LOL).  But it needs to warm up a little.  Until then, I'll be designing cards. I made this card using the January 2018 Viva La Verve Sketch.  I am entering it into the Simon Says Stamp "Winter Blues" Challenge as well. I used a patterned paper which has been in my stash for years.  I believe it was Graphic 45 but I am not sure, its double sided.  I did not like the "branch" element too much so I photographed my creation with and without it.  I cut the top layer from the bottom layer using a stitched layering rectangle die set so the stripes would line up. For the greeting,  I used the new bundle from Stampin' Up!, Cross of Hope.  The white circle and scallop came from a card die set I purchased from Michael's by Stephanie Bernard.  I use these all the time, they are so cute.  I die cut the stitc...

Who doesn't Love Splatters?

Image
So I did make another one today for the Sunday Stamps Color Challenge 169.  I'll post the color scheme in a bit, I'm on my IPad. I used Perfect Pennants from Stampin' Up! and I used the blossom builder punch, which I believe is my favorite flower punch.  I decided to make up a few flower embellishments to have on hand in the next few weeks and so this was my first!  I purchased "Bunch of Blossoms" punch, and I hope I can get something nice from that one.  It was on clearance.  I used Night of Navy to create this dark blue flower.  The gray stripe paper is from The Paper Studio and I watercolored the pink using a Flirty Flamingo Reiner.

Another Day, Another Card!

Image
I created this one based on the Inspire.Create.Challenge 008 | Sketch Challenge  I like the colors:  mint, red, white, silver with a gold Stampin' Up! button.  The sentiment is from "Beautiful Peacock" from Stampin' Up!  I am going to enter this into the "Anything Goes" Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  Plus the Sketch Challenge. I may actually add in a Peacock image in a day or two, under the bow.  Cute stamps from Sale-A-Bration.  So the ribbon actually came from Ebay.  Its 1" grosgrain, mint polka dot and its a good quality.  The white ribbon is also grosgrain, but I believe its 3/8".  I finally found some inexpensive ribbon at Wal-mart and that's were I got that one.  I used white embossing paste on the bottom portion and applied it through a retired Stampin' Up! mask.  I also applied glitter on top of the embossing paste.  I let that dry overnight and I finished it up this morning.  I have a set of die...
